Raytheon volunteers mentor students to celebrate National Engineers Week, Feb. 22-28

Ebbel Angle, now the CEO of a biotech startup, says experiences like that make it tough for girls to find their way into one of the fields known as STEM — for science, technology, engineering and math.

“When you ask girls why they’re not interested in pursuing things academically, especially in STEM, they say, ‘People won’t like me,’” she said. “It’s important to show them things are different later in life than they are when you’re 12.”

This month, Ebbel Angel will help Raytheon celebrate National Engineers Week as part of an educational nonprofit she founded, Science from Scientists. And across the country, hundreds of Raytheon employees will volunteer at many of other events to help inspire students to seek a future in science and math professions.
