A Drop of Blood

In today’s lesson, students learned all about blood. We started the lesson by reading a book that talked about various blood components and their functions. Afterwards, we built a model blood that was fun to touch.

Then, the different blood types were introduced and students learned in a mixing experiment which blood types are compatible and which are not. We had a blood compatibility chart to mark the compatibility of the individual blood types. We used this chart to find out what blood can be given to some stuffed animal patients that suffered from a severe blood loss and had to be given a blood transfusion.

We finished the lesson by creating a booklet that contained pictures of various blood cells. We had so much fun today!
