Allele, Genotype, Phenotype

Today, we learned about inheritance, with a focus on blood types. Students saw that genes help determine who we are and what we look like. We inherit these genes from our parents and some genes interact in different ways. We focused on how human traits are expressed as being either dominant or recessive and how that is expressed in our phenotype and genotype.

Students were presented with a forensic mystery to solve and worked in groups to type match samples of synthetic blood to determine possible parental and sibling relationships.
