Build a Magnet Detector

Today in class, our student engineers worked together to make a device to detect the location of hidden magnets. But they had a constraint or limitation: they had to be able to use the device while keeping their hand 15 centimeters (6”) away from the “game board” where the magnets were. In order to find the magnets, students needed to select a magnetic metal for the main component of their device. Some students were surprised to find that not all metals are attracted to magnets! Ask your student what materials they used to build their magnet detector. Construir un detector de imán

Hoy en clase, nuestros estudiantes de ingeniería trabajaron juntos para hacer un dispositivo para detectar la ubicación de los imanes ocultos. Pero tenían una restricción o limitación: tenían que poder usar el dispositivo mientras mantenían su mano a 15 centímetros (6″) de distancia del “tablero de juego” donde estaban los imanes.
