Collisions – Force (3^rd grade) Today, the students experimented with the forces marbles exert on each other when they collide. The students were given foam tracks and some marbles, and were challenged to ask questions about the forces that the marbles feel when they roll down the track or crash into each other. Students then used the tracks to discover the answers to their questions. The students learned that Isaac Newton was right, and nothing changes speed unless there is an unbalanced force acting on it. This means that things don’t start moving without a push, but also that they don’t STOP moving without a push!
