Hair Identification

Identifying Hair

Today, students put on their detective hats to solve a mock crime! Students worked with a number of hair sample images to identify different patterns of the medulla – or core – of strands of hair or fur. Different mammal species have different medulla patterns, so the patterns can help to identify the type of animal. Students used this knowledge to identify the food thief at a campsite. Ask your student what they discovered!
