Mock Science Fair
Today we started working to get a better understanding of what a science fair project entails! We talked about why one might want to do such a project and then moved to the steps involved in putting together a good experiment. We formulated a question: “Under what conditions will a bean seed grow the best?” The class discussed what background information would be useful and potential sources to find such information, what variables might be important, and then formulated a number of hypotheses. We settled on testing how germination and subsequent growth would work if the seeds were in light or dark conditions. Over the next two weeks, the class will make daily observations and record what they observe between the two conditions. We will then analyze, discuss and graph our results. Stay tuned!!
