Partnership with Khan Lab School in California Announced!

Science from Scientists Partners with Khan Lab School in Mountain View, California

Starting this month, partnership will provide hands-on STEM lessons to 60 students

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS – September 30, 2015 – Today, Science from Scientists (SfS) announced its partnership with non-profit educational organization, Khan Lab School (KLS), an independent school associated with Khan Academy, in Mountain View, California. Beginning this month, SfS will send real scientists into the Khan Lab School classroom to teach 60 students ages 5 to 13.

SfS and Khan Lab School piloted a similar program during the 2014-2015 school year with sessions in February and May. The program complimented student-led investigations into food and endangered species and was well received by teachers and students.

“The Khan Lab School takes a hands-on approach to research and blended learning and we believe our model of incorporating real-world scientists who teach STEM, is an ideal partnership,” said Dr. Erika Ebbel Angle, SfS Founder, Executive Director and Chairman. “We’re excited about this opportunity to work with KLS and increase student engagement in STEM; this has certainly been a long-term goal of ours.”

“Science literacy is of the upmost importance in an age when the science of climate change and nutrition is misconstrued by politics and marketing,” said Jeremy, the Applied Learning Coordinator at Khan Lab School. “Working with Science from Scientists will enhance Khan Lab School’s science curriculum while creating meaningful relationships between the scientific world and the students at KLS.”

SfS has made it their mission to improve the attitudes and aptitudes of 4th-8th graders through an award-winning, during school STEM enrichment program. SfS is presently incorporated into 39 Massachusetts schools and services more than 5,000 students in their classrooms every other week throughout the school year.
