Scientists visited the Parthum Elementary School in Lawrence on Saturday and Wednesday this week to help students prepare for the MCAS science test. On Saturday, students rotated through a series of lessons including Celestial Mechanics, States of Matter, Circuits, Soils and Plants. When we returned on Wednesday, students learned about Populations, Sound, Fossils, Light & Owls! They ended with a student favorite lesson: Rover Restraint, where students are the NASA engineers designing landing equipment for their Mars rover. The models were tested using eggs as the rover and being dropped from a ladder in the auditorium. Great job to all, we packed a lot of science into our two visits! We enjoyed working with all the students and wish them good luck on the MCAS test!
